´96 (Japan) "Natural" w/maple neck and white pickguard.
Had a Mørck preamp and new pickups installed in 99, which gives it more punch and clarity, but I still have the original pickups.

I'm not a real big fan of the Fender bass....or their Warmoth cousins.....NOT!!
While I'm ranting...I don't care much for matching headstocks either.

Hey Instagator, you just instigated this
out of me! How big must your smile be, waking up in the morning, knowing these are what greet you!Now for an in-depth review of EACH ONE OF THEM.
'01 MIA Jazz passive ash/maple/maple, the one on the right. The other two are gone now. I use to play Fenders exclusively, but I have switched to Wicks for the most part. I've kept the one Jazz bass for obvious reasons.
"75 Fender P. Bought in '80 for $200. Modded in '80 by Mark Arnquist to J-P-J pup configuration with Duncan QuarterPounders, vol/tone stack knobs, BadAss II, brass nut, kill switch.

L to R we have:
1. MIM Classic Series '60s Stratocaster in Burgundy Mist (modded with Duncan Alnico Pro PUPs)
2. CIJ Signature Series Sting Precsion, 'burst of course
3. 1983 Vintage Series '62 Precision Bass in REAL Lake Placid Blue, not that ugly green color some folks call LPB. I bought it brand new on April 15, 1983 after she said "Hi, honey- I'm home!!" when I played one unamplified note on her.
4. It started as a 1988 MIJ Jazz Bass Special Fretless in Candy Apple Red. I changed the bridge (to a Schaller roller) and the PUPs (to Duncan Quarter Pounders) and added a HipShot Bass Xtender within weeks. I gutted the stock V/V/T and 3-way toggle switch soon after to a V/Blend/Tone. Then I put in the Duncan bass pre-amp. Then I replaced the rosewood fingerboard with a big chunk of ebony and it finally started sounding less annoyingly nasal. Then I had a new body built out of mahogany. The only thing that left the Fuji Gen Gaki factory is the maple part of the neck, the headstock finish, three tuning machines, and the neck plate. Maybe the four neck screws are original, but I don't know any more.

THATS A COWPOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well its technically a Fender Precision Special Plus. The ones with the pickguards are the Specials (IE Cowpokes) the ones with out the PGs were 'Plus' for whatever reason.
EDIT as for year... from what Ive read/heard the Special and the Special Plus were made from 1988-1996. 1995 seems to be the year seen more from my limited experience with it. I have also learned recently that 1995 was the only year active EQ was offered on them (and it was special order). If anyone can confirm or dispute this let me know. I got that tidbit from the man I almost got my Cowpoke back up for the other day (till someone came along offering $100 more..grrrr). And since that man bought it brand new in 1995 I suppose he knows what hes talking about....
