casual rockabilly?

i love your list, btw. i would love to play songs like those. however, songs like those could be played in many styles from reggae to punk. that's one of the things i like about them. i think country-surf-punk will draw the young crowd and old-school rock will draw the older crowd.

btw, i didn't see little red riding hood on your list. that's a great bar cover. if you are looking for suggestions... :smug:

happy birthday :D

still looks like great sets of music. i recently started playing with a blues band that does some similar "rock-ish" tunes along with the more trad stuff. as well as big river.

i love the roots rock...

how can "cover band" be a genre? there are blues cover bands, classic rock cover bands, jamband cover bands, c&w cover bands, death metal cover bands, reggae cover bands, etc. honestly, that's just silly.

now, how much of your set has to be original to no longer be called a "cover band?" there's an interesting question. my rock band is slightly more than half originals and we call ourselves an "original" rock band

You are allowed one cover per set, or you are a sellout!

Just kidding. I think if you play more originals than covers you can consider yourself an originals band.

But it is an interesting question. Say you are an originals band that have worked up an entire set of originals and are used to opening for other acts.

Then you get a chance to do a three or four set gig, but you don't have enough songs original songs. Do you become a covers band in this case just because you had to play covers to make up the difference?

ahhh, now you know why we are up to almost half covers! we were an almost entirely original band (a few covers for fun, we like radiohead). then we started playing longer shows and needed a kwick beef up of our set list....
