GAS hasn't made me pick up a lot of bass pedals yet, but partly because one I do have is the BP-355, which covers some good basic ground on reverbs, delays, wah, phasers, etc. Nothing mindblowing, but great for learning and fun FX like delay time expression pedal control. But I've got a Flying Pan clone that does pretty alright for some applications...and just recently I picked up a Swollen Pickle.
THAT sucker takes some careful dialing to get the sound I'm looking for, but it's in there and it's beautiful. I was searching far and wide for a smoother, less angry fuzz than what so many of the Muff children were offering, and the Pickle gives it how I like it with all the low end and maybe even a bottom boost. In my mind's ear, it gets closer to the kinds of sounds Larry Graham was using in the old days, and blending that with modern instruments/FX in the production studio is bringing me a lot of joy. And the Pickle CAN get rough if I want.
