what head for a Hartke 410?

There are a lot of good options. Older GK, Trace, SWR, etc... would all be good choices. For something inexpensive, functional, and light, you could go for newer GK or Ampeg class D stuff. Genz Benz are also great (could probably find a shuttle or GBE series in your budget).

I would say if you want to add another cab (especially on a budget), you should think about the 4.5XL. That's what I had for a while and it was a great cab. Really nice mids and highs.

Cool! Would be great to hear what you end up with (+pics:smug:)
I have a couple of hd210’s that I run with an Ashdown head. That brings up the point....
Regardless of what anyone suggests you use, grab up whatever it is you’re passionate about using. Otherwise, 6 months into it you’ll be selling/trading/buying again. All of the above listed suggestions are legit but, it just comes down to what it is that makes your metronome swing.
I will say that the number one feature that head has that keeps me hanging onto it is the preamp “bypass” button. It allows me to use that head and also a GK Plex and Ampeg scr-di preamps on the fly with the press of just a couple of buttons if I want completely different flavors. Pretty cool and I actually wonder why more amp companies don’t have it. If it were not for that feature I’d be running a GK Legacy.
Good luck with the hunt and let us know what you get.
Peace

Its a 410 xl-series. Any suggestions on what head to buy? It's used for basic garage rock, punk, blues. Sorry if this has been posted before.
I’d suggest a Hartke head to go with it. I have a 410xl and a HA2500 and it gets more than loud enough for most gigs at 8ohms. The dual preamps on it also sound pretty good. You can get really nice pick rock tones with the pre B at twice the level of A.

@tedsalt They actually do call it what it is. My fault. It's the "EQ in/out" button.
