What I saw at NAMM today.

I'm an Ibanez fanboy, so let's get that out of the way.

I saw the Gittler booth, and I wanted to check out their bass. They were really trying to get this one guy to check it out, and seemed annoyed that I wanted to get a pic of the bass.

Next thing I know a crowd is forming around this guy...I think it's Billy Sheehan. He's trying to play the bass, but it doesn't seem comfortable. They put the plastic backing on it, and that seemed better. I tried it after he was done. It was different. I didn't really like the feel of it, but I love the concept.

I thought this bass was gorgeous. They had it really high on display, out of my grubby reach.

Orange had their new O basses.

Warwick had a lot of cool basses out, but I really liked this one.

This was cool, too.

Yes, that is Billy Sheehan. He is a living legend.

Last night I saw a few bands at the Hilton.

The bassist for Chemical Z (with Doug Wimbish)

The bassist for Lauren Alexander. He had some mean vibrato.

The bassist for OnOff. He had good energy, and a sweet strap.

Can you imagine the boners those guys got when Billy freakin' Sheehan stopped at their booth!

It turns out that I am going to be going back tomorrow (I thought my ride was leaving early tomorrow, but he's not).

Thanks for posting those photos. Since you're an Ibanez fan like me, could you perhaps compare the neck on the singlecut SRSC805 to a regular 5-string SR. The single-cut has 18-mm spacing instead of 16.5, and the neck is 4 mm wider. I'm worried it will feel too wide for me. Also, ask them if the 4-string version, the SRSC800, has the normal SR4 neck profile?

Did you happen to notice a price on the prestige Talman basses? Haven't seen it posted anywhere. Were you able to play them? Or the new Artcores? Thanks!
