By what I mean, what, if anything, do you carry if yer board breaks, or a pedal breaks, etc.

Aguilar Tonehammer. It just works and can have phantom power through di out.
I guess that I currently consider my amps to be my essentials, so I have two different class-D heads that are easy to schlep together and both sound nice in their own way.
That being said, I like to sometimes noodle on a Zoom B6. If I ever try going ampless, I know that I'll also want some sort of backup. The thing that I'm itching to try is a Tech 21 Bass Fly Rig V2 (I also want to have a go with one of their guitar Fly Rigs just for the heckuvit).

I don't use preamps on my board, I only use sound effects. If the board breaks down on the gig, then I'll simply bypas the board and go straight to amp.
I don't carry backup effects. My back-up plan is plugging directly into a passive DI at the end of my pedalboard...
When we are running our own sound there is a spare channel on the mixer that has an in built amp sim set up. Actually there are two, one for bass and one for guitar. We have never used these. When I am not running our own sound then I carry a sansamp paradriver. All my gig bags have the little Harley Benton portable tuners in them as well.
I don’t use much of a pedalboard (tuner, comp, bassballs) for bass, so don’t really need a backup for that. If my board goes down, I’d just “raw dog it
I do carry an MXR bass preamp in case the amp goes down.
That’s a really clever approach. I don’t think I would have even considered the amp sim on the board option.
I have a main board, with more extensive versions/models of certain effects plus some patch points for the occasional inclusion of quirky experimental boxes, that would be used on certain gigs. Otherwise, I have smaller, striped-down boards with just the basic types/functions of the same effects by lesser brands with lesser parameters, i.e., a Markbass Compressore compressor and Iron Ether Polytope Chorus on my big board, but then a Becos mini comp and a Mooer Ensemble Queen on the smaller, for example. If I had a gig where the specific effects on the big board greatly enhance the sonic flavors of the bass sound, and their absence would be noticeable, I would bother to bring the smaller board for backup. Otherwise, if a pedal might go down but the effect is negligible on my overall sound, I’d just patch around it.
And I do incorporate more than just a comp and chorus on any of my boards.

My main pedal is a Fractal Audio FM9 Turbo. Backup is a Zoom B6, which I used a bit before getting the FM9T. I also have an Atomic BassBox that can do preamp, drive/boost, comp, & cab IR. I'm also fine just going DI to mixing console in a worst case situation.

For anybody who wants to borrow this idea: the Behringer has an inbuilt effect called 'guitar amp' that does a passable impression of a Sansamp. I only use 3 of the 4 effects slots (stereo reverb for lead vocal and guitar, stereo reverb for backing vocals, a stereo multiband compressor as in insert over the main mix) which leaves one of the stereo slots unused. The 'sansamp' is across channel 15 and 16 as an insert with one set for crunchy guitar and the other set for gritty rock bass. If you really wanted to use this properly then you could use channel 1 or 2 which can be set for hi-z, which means you can literally get a guitar or bass, use a normal 1/4" instrument cable and just plug it right into the mixer. However as this is just a backup for us I don't care enough to use the money channels. There's going to be a spare DI around and if there isn't I will just live with the consequences.
