Electra already did it back in the '70s.
In my experience, guitar players are waaaaay more conservative. But there are also a lot more of them. Which I guess explains why these "all new innovations" keep happening there. And also explains why they almost always go over like lead balloons.Shergold in Britain also had exchangeable modular FX units in the late 1970s... didn't catch on. Could be done much better today, sure, but bass players are somewhat conservative.
