What is everyone's favorite short scale bass?

Curious what you guys think are some of the best short scale basses out there

if you're talking about sound, nothing comes close to this one...and I only had the opportunity to play the single with piezo!
As versatile as the G&L L2000 and the MusicMan Big Al…can't think of too many basses that can make that claim.
Having only tried half a dozen short-scales, it's easily my favorite. Haven't heard any reason to even begin considering anything else. I'd rather hold off on buying one of these because of the price than purchase a lesser bass. I like the Epiphone Rumble Kat, for example, but this one made me forget all about it.

I feel like with a guitar, if you ask people what the best quitars are, no one would dare say a squier or an epiphone. Yet with bass, it seems like people have almost an equal respect for clones that they have for Fender/Gibson. What's the deal with that?

Most of us don't care about brands. As bassists we are happy that we get noted from the audience , so we play what is good and not what is written on the headstock.

Best Shortscales I have played:
Fender Mustang PJ Bass. Sweet sound, easy to play - and I adore the knobs and the pickup switch.

Atelier Z baby: This is without a doubt the best shortscale I ever had in my hand, and the second best bass I had the pleasure to play (only second to a WAL).It is quite expensive, but it sounds and plays so good!

I can remember wanting an Ashbory when they came out.

I remember seeing one when I was 9. Wanted it, but of course I didn't get it. Instead, I got a full-size at 13. Looking back, I am so glad I didn't get that Ashbory.

The two best short scales I have played so far I ended up buying. Squier Jaguar VM SS and Warwick Corvette SS.

I'm currently using 3 Hofners: Ignition Club, HCT Galaxie, and HCT 500/5 President. I'm a fan of their narrow necks.

Other good shortscales I've used (in no particular order) are the Ibanez Mikro, Squier Jaguar SS, Fender Mustang MIJ RI, Squier Bronco, Fender Bullet B-30, Silvertone/Danelecro Model 1444, Danelectro '56 single cut and Longhorn, Jerry Jones single cut, double cut and Longhorn, Kay Truetone/Speed Demon, Epiphone Allen Woody/Rumblekat, Ibanez AFB200 and Harmony H22/1.

I've got a Squier Jaguar VM SS which has a nice slim neck and offers fantastic value for money and recently upgraded to the Fender Mustang PJ Bass which is a step up in quality and sounds great.

I really like my CIJ Mustang Bass

Lightweight, fun, easy to play, classic look, sounds good, easy to transport...

Not claiming it's perfect — it could sound a bit "fuller". But anyway, it's good. I like it

I've owned a small handful of short scales but never fell in love until I got my new Mustang PJ. That bass sounds, feels, plays, looks and smells awesome . I was reluctant cuz I owned an 80s Mustang, and wasn't a fan at all.

I have a Hofner Ignition on its way from MF this week so I'll be able to weigh in on that too, soon.

Also plan to get a TMB30.

Considering selling off a lot of my other basses and switching to all short scale. Was having some bad back problems, and since I've been playing the Mustang they're almost completely gone. I think it's more the ergonomics of a short scale than the weight.

Fender Starcaster and Ibanez AFB200 get gigged on a regular basis and I recently bought a cheap Hofner Club that I'm really beginning to dig. If you're a Fender fanatic, the Starcaster is amazing with a neck that cannot be mistaken for anything else.

There are so many decent to great short scales....hell, there are so many decent to great basses of all scales that it's hard to own just one.
