I think I missed something, because I noticed a lot of threads about this type of bass, and Ive never seen one (I live in the middle of nowhere). So are they like supposed to be really great or something. No hate please if I sound like a moron, Im just uninformed.

What is the deal with Sadowsky?

If you want to be informed about Sadowsky, and not "sound liek a moron", you could search the many vast threads about Sadowskys. There is the Sadowsky gallery thread where people show off their basses, and a few hundred more threads about them here and there.

So its just basically another high end bass manufacture. The basically take fender basses and modify them to sound better.
They sound bitchen, pretty much. Especially the Modern 5-24.

He has three in stock now at his shop. I was going to drive down this week but didn't get a chance.
I'm looking to possibly replace my USA Lakland 5 with a NYC Sad......5-24.
They build basses than can be Fender styled (save headstock), that will essentially blow most/all Fenders off the planet.
Take Fenders and modify them...puh.

But that isn't an accurate representation of his work now. To compare that to the work he does now...I dunno...it almost cheapens it.
You had this planned all along didn't you? Start out sounding all innocent, then reveal your anti-Sadowsky bias subtly.
It's not "Just another" high end bass manufacturer, and they don't "basically take Fender basses and modify them to sound better". Roger Sadowsky is a highly respected repairman who worked on a lot of reknowned bassists' instruments over the years and eventually started designing his own. There is a reason they are considered "THE" axe to have for recording pros (session players, not necessarily x bassist from your favorite band). I don't own one because I can't afford it, but if I could, and if I wanted a high end jazz style bass (4 or 5), they would be on the top of my list, followed slightly by a Mike Lull and Valenti (both of which are great basses for a fair amount less money than a Sadowsky).
I never meant to suggest such a thing. I was just saying that as I understand it, that was how he got started so many years ago, right?
