What is your Bass guitar progression?

1 bass, 2 bass, 3 bass, then many more. Lost count in 2004. Finally, came to my senses and said no more.

Upgraded to 2012 American jazz deluxe V.
Traded boner for a dingwall combustion.
Sold the amdlx and dingwall to fund an fbass BN6.
Added a 1990 Japanese P.
Satisfied!

I don't even know how many bass's I have owned over the last 20 years lol... I started on a cheap old Yamaha RBX and have settled with a '78 MM Stingray and a Vintage modified Jaguar. Have owned Fender P's, Fender J's, 5's, 6's, Thunderbirds, rippers, Went through an Ibanez stint, Washburn etc etc

First Bass... 1993 I beleive was the year I picked it up

I started with some unknown brand, most likely sold by Otasco or Western Auto. (You youngin's will not understand.) Next one was a Mosrite Ventures. Finally (age 14-29) I was able to purchase a left-handed bass, 1982 Precision. After that, I went through a few - Peavey Foundation fretless, G&L (two), Carvin, MTD, Alembic, and Knuckle. (I probably skipped one or two.)

The ones I still have? G&L SB-1, lefty, Carvin LB75, lefty, and Knuckle, lefty, plus some p.o.s. acoustic (Hohner).

Started with a Peavey Foundation, 1989-1992.
Traded for a Modulus M92 4 string, 1992-2017.
Picked up an Alvarez acoustic in 1994, still have it.
Built a custom Warmoth Jazz in 2013, walnut/wenge/ebony...this bass rocks.

I don't know if I have a progression. More like an expansion.

I got a P bass about 30 years ago. I still gig with it, although it's had a neck replacement.

Accumulated a dozen or so other basses over the years. Never sold any. 2, 4, 5, 6, and 8 strings. Active, passive, piezo, magnetic, solid, hollow, semi, fretted, fretless, standard, piccolo. 19", 28", 30", 34", 35", and 42" scale lengths. Each gets used for gigs or recording where appropriate.

Can you show that 2 string again? Jonesen for one..

Started on guitar, then I was a drummer. Then a band needed a bass player. For the record, I've never owned more than 2 or 3 basses at a time.

I started with a 1981 Hondo Explorer, (wish I still had it) for about a 2 years, moved to a 1983-4 Guild Pilot for about 28 years, then a 2013 Gamma Alpha. I built a FrankenPilot about a month ago and found a DeArmond Pilot Plus that I am very fond of and it will split #1 playing time with the Gamma.

It is really difficult for me to put the Gamma down but it was injured once and I don't want another collision....
