My exact feelings.The neck and the feel. Everything else can be changed to what you want.
For guitar or bass I have to like the way it feels when I hold it--especially the neck--before I even play it.
Then I play it unplugged--If I like that then I might plug it in.
Then other factors, such as price, condition, and so on...
I'm extremely cautious about bass purchases...my only true litmus test is sleeping on it.
