My Two Cents,
I've owned many, many cabinets.

An SWR Baby Blue Extension Cabinet with 2x8's by Bag End and a tweeter

The Flite Sound 2x8 with Liquid Suspension Black Aluminum Drivers with a smaller tweeter

A LDS 2x8 Three Way with B&C Neodymium Drivers

The venerable EA VL 208

With two Eminence 8" drivers, two 6" midrange, and one tweeter.

I know there's a pattern here :D

With the TC 112 all those cabinets are sitting at the house.
close but no cigar.

It's the best sounding, doubling cabinet ever.

I have an AudioKinesis TC115AF and agreed they are wonderful...my second favorite upright cab :)

For several years, my favorite DB cab was an EA VL208, followed by an EA Wizzy 12M. However, they've both been collecting dust since Mike Arnopol built two composite cabs for me; a 9-pound (tweeterless) Crazy8, and a 20-pound Crazy88 (with tweet). Best cabs I've ever used.

I should mention that I never gig without using FDeck's HPF/Pre (ultra-quiet pre-amp with 10 MegOhm input impedance, phase reverse switch, and variable high-pass filter); it's my secret weapon, with both DB and EB. ;)

I wonder what contains the charm of 8's? I've owned both the Bag End and Eminence loaded Baby Blues and have had a Tannoy V8 for several years and quite liked them all. A certain clarity? My local L&M has on order a Markbass New York 804 I have high hopes for as a "does-all" cab.

On paper the AudioKinesis 12 looks like it would work well. I'd certainly go out of my way to hear one.

99 times out of 100 I grab the Crazy 8. It requires a bit of bump in the low end but sounds very natural and covers most gigs just fine. When I need more volume I go to the 4 ohm Acme B-1. A series II Clarus head does the job on both and on the rare occasion I need both cabinets it handles the load.

The Acme Flatwound 112 does not get a lot of love here but it sounds incredible on double bass. Plenty of power handling, not a hint of boxiness.

It is kind of large but it's "one-handable" so you can one trip it from the car with the bass over your shoulder.

Hi,

i love my Glockenklang Space Deluxe.
Tried many, many cabs. The Space Deluxe is the best.
Also great with electric Bass btw…
Not the cheapest, but there are not many cabs that sound so
well balanced than the Glockenklang Space deluxe.
