What is your favorite passive soapbar? (emg 35 size)

I have a bass with a Seymour Duncan Phase II in the Music Man-ish spot. I like the way it sounds but its kind of a generic, "hmm pretty good" kind of sound. Not bad at all but it kind of lacks character or anything special.

I just want to see what else is out there? I want to stay passive for sure. Single coil or Humbucker: no preference.

What is your go-to EMG35 size soapbar and why?

Nordstrand's the way to go! I swore by them when I replaced the (already good) pickup on my Sterling Ray24. Now I'm planning on custom-ordering a set for my Kiesel V59K. You can custom order a pickup or two in your desired size.

Or you can also try Ulyate pickups, I hear only good things from Howard.

I like Lace Alumitones, myself. Nice, modern sound if that's what you like.

I've never heard of Q-tuner pickups. Do they really have that logo on the top as shown on their website? That strikes me as a little unfortunate, though I suppose you could sand it off.

Yeah, the black ones do. They don't bother me that much, but I wouldn't mind if they were smaller. They have transparent ones that don't have a logo on them.

I would say pretty flat. Not as broad of a response as the Q-Tuners.
