What is your favorite tonewood?

I am trying to plan out my Warmoth bass. I am thinking of a walnut body (with a flame maple outer shell MAYBE), maple neck, and ebony fret-board. I plan on using a Aguilar OBP-3 pre-amp to compliment Bart pickups. I am also trying to decide on a P&J configuration or MM. What kind of tone can I expect? Is this a good idea for a 5 string?

I currently play an Ibanez SR900 which is mostly bubinga and rosewood fingerboard. I have a hard time getting much needed natural lows with this instrument. I also have a 2012 American 5 string Delux Fender Jazz with maple neck, rosewood board and alder body. The sound and tone are amazing. It is not the most versatile instrument though.

I would try a koa body(deep and warm with lots of lows /midrange and clear highs; kinda halfway between alder and mahogany),
a maple neck, and a satinwood or snakewood fingerboard(probably the 2 brightest tone woods out there).
Also, I would suggest putting a Bartolini MK pickup on it (airiest pickup I've ever heard).

It seems like no one likes cheap and/or unattractive woods as tonewoods.

So maybe the best tonewood is the prettiest and/or most expensive one?
