That is what we use and it works wonderful for me: I get notifications via email and text, I can block the dates when I wont be available, I can see the set list with key, chord charts, video/mp3/sequence tracks of the songs, band members, who the sound guy will be, etc.

My main band uses an app called TimeTree. One of our guitarists found it. It’s a collaborative calendar and runs on Apple and Android phones, plus a web site. It works well for us and it is not A Google product. I stay from Google stuff if I can because I think they are too intrusive.
A couple band members have a lot of kid activities that limits our band availability. A couple of us are also in secondary groups. The most important things on our calendar are our blackout dates. If you are not available on a specific day, you better put it in the calendar, because our people that book use the calendar find open dates. Luckily, the members are pretty good at keeping blackouts up to date.
Once a date is booked, I add it to my iPhone calendar. That is a little extra work, but it keeps me seeing only booked dates in my personal calendar.

We’ve started using TimeTree as well - gigs are shown in one colour and everybody uses a different colour to show their blackout dates.
Very easy to use and so far everyone seems to be keeping up to date - I’ve already had a couple of people reach out asking about dates and I can tell them immediately which is great.

I use Google Calendar for shared band calendars. Why? Because we're publishing gig dates anyway, so there's no privacy issue. And it's free for the broke-ass musicians in half the bands, and easy to share with mom+the world.
However, I manage the calendars via Fastmail, which I use for email and all my private calendars. Absolutely great service with which I have no association whatsoever. Also handy as I have my own domain name. I recommend it.

Google Calendar. I have a "MUSIC" calendar that I share with everyone I play with. If they want to see if I'm available for a date, they can just look at it online. Other people I play with do the same. Makes life much easier.
I was so close to getting my last band to move over to Slack for everything. There was a point where we were getting all of our various text topics into specific channels (gear, gigs, random memes and gifs), but then we'd still have some of the guys text blasting every once in a while.
I have a calendar on my wall. I buy a new one every year at The Dollar Store. My flip phone doesn't even have a camera in it much less any calendar apps.

If I drop it ten feet onto hard concrete, it still works. If the power goes out, it still works. No monthly subscription fees. No personal data sold to marketeers. A mandatory update is required every year, but the mandatory update never makes a bunch of stuff not work.

Another Google Calendar user. Mine, and one for each band. Color coded, easily copy events (like "Zon5string unavailable") to other calendars...it is also synced to my iPhone calendar.
