What is your go-to bridge???

Whenever I replace the bridge it is a Gotoh. GREAT value.

FYI- One of our engineers that specializes in music products - tells me that if the bass body has a nice tone to it (by knocking on it,etc.) the lighter stamped metal bridge will impart the wood tone, where the heavy bridge will not allow the wood to ring. To be tested.

I think the OP wanted to know what your favorite "replacement" bridge would be, and for me, I agree with BoisterousClam .... Kahler (trem or not ) if it fits, wear it proudly!!!!

The only replacement bridge I use at the moment is the Badass III on my fretless J, and I'm quite happy with the results compared to the original bent-tin bridge The bass is not a Fender, though. It's a rather cheap J-bass clone heavily modified, so the bent-tin bridge was let go on the way. I used to have a MIJ 57 RI Fender Precision which sounded very nice with the stock bridge, so I never thought of changing that.

My Ric, Lakland and G&L have their stock bridges and I feel no need to change them, as they are very nice as is.

I have used gotoh and badass mostly. I just tried a wikinson bridge which is a lot like fender bridge but made a lot better. You can find them on eBay cheap for around $13.00.

There's been a lot of talk recently regarding bridge of choice. I'm just curious what y'all use as your bridge of choice when swapping, or ordering a custom. For me, it's a Hipshot A or a Schaller roller.

If your bridge isn't in the poll, please add it. Thanks...

Does Hipshot make an "A" or "B" type bridge that will fit the Fender
5 or the newer 3 screw hole pattern?

I've got a new Jazz that has the new High Mass Vintage bridge, I've got a Carvin that uses the Hipshot A-style bridge. I've got a Squier FVM Fretless that I'm thinking of swapping out the bridge and I'll probably go with a Gotoh 201 bridge, because I've heard that the Gotoh 201 will still allow the strings to stay low to the neck on a fretless.

Heh, the two basses I play mostly, have Traben Bigger Bridges(tribal sun, inferno), so I guess thats my answer.
Next, are Kahler trems, I love them.


As for more standard bridges, from the different kinds I've tried, I prefer Hipshot A's(or licenced, as Cort use), mainly for the quickloading.(Trabens and Kahlers also have this!)

Overall though, whatever's good, and I'll leave a bass stock uness it developes a problem, or if I want a trem!
