I mainly am now playing with the Yamaha 6 string in my icon, but it's basically a 6 string jazz bass. I voted jazz style bass and other. Other being if you didn't want to consider the Yamaha as a jazz style bass. And if you did, then the next most played axe is a true Jazz bass.

That Nordstrand is beautiful!
Yes, Carey made some amazing basses back in the day.

Mostly I grab the Lakland fretless 5 and bring the Peavey Cirrus 5 Tiger Eye along as a spare that maybe I'll play if we knock out the good fretless tunes early. Or vice-versa.

Sometimes, if I'm tired and/or sore from work or whatever, I'll just grab the Precision and do that.

If it's something that begs for flatwounds with some attack, I'll bring the Alembic Series 4-string. It would be my main bass if it were a 5, and mostly my son has been gigging with it in his power trio Milkwalker.

For jazz gigs, Ibanez single-cut 6-string gets the call, with either the Lakland or the Peavey as backup.

Big band gigs get the Alembic.

So I'm all over the place, and it's good as far as I'm concerned.
