What is your MXR M87 settings?

Which kind of music you use the setting for?

My setting is
Acttack 9:00
Release 2:00
Rato 8
Input 1:00
I usually play old school funky, blues,sometime slapping.

Currently, the M87 is my "always on" pedal. My settings are:

- Ratio: 8:1
- Attack: Almost fully counterclockwise
- Release: Between 1:00 and 2:00
- Input and output vary depending on the instrument, but with my Stambaugh custom they are most of the times between 10:00 - 11:00 and 2:00, respectively.

Not sure if it's just me, but, any time I have the release knob set anywhere above 12:00, the pedal seems to clip. Sounds like it adds a very soft overdrive to the sound. Turn it down for a slower release and it goes away.

Mostly, with the exception of the input knob. You set a very low threshold compared to mine.

That's normal for the M87, especially of the attack is up too.

Well, good to know that it's not a bad pedal. At least. It's barely noticeable. But I notice it. And it drives me a little nuts.

Yes. Raising the input level equals lowering the threshold, which means that the compressor will react sooner to your playing.
