You might want to re-do the poll with options for things like a short-scale six-string, as that's what I play most of the time, not a long-scale coffee table with aircraft carrier flight deck for a fretboard that most people associate with "six-string bass"

the 2nd and 3rd to last options are for doubled instruments (that's what "course" means, 2 or 3 strings grouped together.)

i should hope most people don't associate those with 6 string basses. i can't imagine what they'd associate mine with

I've got 3 basses, a 4 banger and 2 5'ers. I did own a 6 string fretless but sold it because it wasn't practical for what I do.

Several 4-fretted, several 4-fretless, one 5-er. The next 5-er I add may be for E-C tuning rather than jumping to a 6-er.

I've got 2 fretted 5 strings-an Ibanez BTB405QM, Carvin LB75AP and a fretted Steinberger xl serial #340 4 string. The Ibanez is active electronics w/passive pu's-sounds great. The Carvin I had for 2 months and it has given me fits, but it's possibly coming around and the Steiny is retired. It was my workhorse from 1982 thru 1989. Looking to buy a new jazz bass soon.
