Double Bass What kind of stool is this?

I almost bought the folding stool at Lemur, but was
concered about some of the reports of it failing after
a year or so. Instead I settled on:

I just used it at a symphony rehearsal for the first time
last night, I got the aluminum model, its nice and light.
The cushion is really deep and comfy It isnt cheap
but it looks to be a good design.

I was wondering, how are you getting along with the quikseat?

When I started arco upright, I went looking for a good stool on the internet. Seems like $$$.

Well, Bed,Bath and Beyond sells a light but sturdy 30" wooden stool for $19 on sale.

If you are somewhat handy with tools, you can customize the stool EXACTLY to the right height for you. Seems that 29" is perfect for my noobie bowing skills. For best results, use a japanese saw and level the saw with a block of wood the same height as the amount you want to cut off. If you do this, the legs will be exactly perpendicular to the floor and stool will not rock in the slightest.

More proficient, you can add a detachable footrest (in my case a 1" thick paddle with folded aluminum clasp to grab the rung)for about $10.

Really proficient, you can take the seat off, put it on the lathe and add a butt pocket (i.e a 1/4" concave dish in the middle of the seat which makes the seat more comfortable). Be careful as usual when affixing the wood and turning it.

Stain everything wood color and you got a real purty wooden stool for less than $50.

I got one of the ones on the left side of the photo. Not the most comfy bike seat ever, but it folds up really small, is adjustable to many useable heights, is super-solid, weighs very little, and look at the flames!

Got one on eBay for 60 bucks.
