what kind of straps does eveyone use

I have three, one for each bass:

1. My Squier VM P has a 2-1/2"-wide leather Levy's with a 3" padded glove-leather back (http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Levys-Boot-Leather-Guitar-Strap?sku=360548).

2. My SX PJ has a 3 1/2" Clayton leather strap (http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Clayton-3.5-Leather-Guitar-Strap?sku=364270).

3. My SX 5'er has a 3" Planet Waves polypropylene strap (http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Planet-Waves-Polypropelyne-Strap-for-Bass?sku=365211).

I use Ernie Ball regular 2" straps with Dunlop Straploks on them on my 4s and my 5, and A Franklin 3 1/2" (I think) padded leather strap for my Bongo 6 and a Comfort strap on my Peavey 6.

Cheap 2" poly straps. No designs. Usually black. I seriously can't seem to find a non-hideous patterned strap at any of my local shops, or if I do, it's not long enough.

Does the pad slide around at all when playing? I always wondered how smooth backed leather straps stay in place.

I bought a Comfort Strapp after reading about it on TalkBass. Its great, it distributes the weight really well and its padded nicely. It makes 3-4hr gigs much easier, I never get a sore shoulder at the end of the night anymore.

too be completely honest i use 2 difffrent kinds of straps one is a cheap poly one my brother got me thats orange and says "DEPT. OF CORRECTIONS" gotta love little brothers ... and the other one i have is 110% duck tape and its extremely comfortable made it myself

I've had this same Levy's black leather strap going on 6 years now. I use dunlop locks on every bass I own, so this one strap gets used for all of them. Definitely got my money worth out of it.

if your bass weighs a medium to heavy amount i would definitely recommend a comfort strapp (no typo) and some straplocks, that would help prevent twisting

Planet Waves Lock Strap.

Oh, they would be good, I have one, but... the lock strap construction pushes out the connecting part so that it is easy to be irritated when it hits your left hand.... Good idea, bad implementation.

WIde leather, forget what brands, one is suede lined the other smooth leather 'outside' and inside is genuine simulated sheepskin/wool. Comfy.

I probably own some where between 20 to 30 straps, never bothered to count. My favorites are my Italia straps.

I use a Strapp for my guitars and a couple of my lighter basses, but I prefer an adjustable leather strap, with spikes used as bolts to keep the adjustment from slipping, effectively making the length a permanent deal. Add some Dunlop straplocks on the end, and your bass is staying put from now until the end of time.

If either of the straps I've done that too ever get damaged, I can replace them cheaply at the local feed-n-tack store. Unworked leather strips are pretty cheap. Cut to length, punch some holes to add the straplocks, and you're good to go.

I use Moody Leather, but I only have one. They are pretty pricey but they are top quality.

I second the Moody strap. I have two and love them both.
