PW M7200 (44-106) on my Fender Jazz, tuned to DGCF. (Unchanged)

I’m not loving the Dragon Skins or the Silver Stars. They’re not awful but I definitely won’t buy them again.

Right now I’ve got a few sets on my wishlist- Rotosound RS665LD Swing Bass, Rotosound RS555LD Solo Bass, GHS Contact Core 45-129 and DR Lo-Rider SS 45-125.

Depends on the Bass. But mostely the "M" Maruszczyk Strings. The coated strings are phenomenal. The Flats and Nickels also, but on my Mensinger Joker i love the coated ones. Best coated strings i've tried so far.

After much experimentation I’ve settled on Pyramid Gold flats, .045-.105 set on my Precision and I absolutely love them. Fantastic feel and just the right amount of tension. Also sound pretty thuddy right out of the pack which is not something I can say for many other sets of flats I’ve tried. Prior to these I was enjoying the La Bella 1954 Jameson set, but in the end they were a bit too much like hard work.

I have for along time been using Fender Flatwounds they sound okay to me.

I usually use the Warwick Reds when I am recording or play a lot live. They sound decent but not for long. In times when I have to change strings more often, they are a bargain. I tend to use the steel ones, but I don't notice the nickel-steel difference too much (maybe I am a cretin).

In pandemic times I kept using them because for diddling around in lockdown I did not really care about "freshness", but I guess I will switch to something else.

The bassist in one of my bands uses flatwounds for metal on an explorer bass. I was honestly very suprised how evil he sounds (through a Behringer amp, even).

So I just ordered a set of 5-string flatwounds from Thomann. They have their own brand of flatwounds now for some time. I will try them on my old SRX because I do not use the bass otherwise (it used to be my main instrument for years but I switched to an EHB some time ago). The bass itself is very active-ly sounding, so that might work. The EHB1005 is sounding pretty "mello", so I guess flatwounds might be too much "mellow" on one instrument.

I am pretty excited to see where this goes!

I play all of the strings on my bass ... because they are there

Actually I like D'Addario super light nickel or steels because I never get dead strings out of the package.

Fender 45-100 flats on 2 P's and a J. Fender tape-wound 58-110 on fretless J. My Vox teardrop came with flats with dark blue silk at both ends. Don't know what they are but I like them. The NS EUB wears stock D'Addario flats. Flats on everything.
