What kind of strings do you use?

I've used GHS Boomers and didn't like them. Sounded muddy to me. I then switched to Ernie Ball Super Slinkys for a while and i kinda liked them but i just wanted to try something different, so i picked up a set of Dean Markley Blue Steels. Still trying them out. I honestly really do not know what string to get. I'm looking for a strong and clean low end with that "flowery ping" in the high ends. But yea......right now I have Dean Markley Blue Steels on an Ibanez GSR205

I use D'Addario EXL170's on my Variax Bass (and right now, on my fretless as well)

I used D'Addario Chromes Flatwound strings on my fretless before the roundwounds.

I use Ernie Ball Slinkies on my Traben Array Limited 4S.

Rotosounds on my first bass (a Yamaha RBX170 in blue... they sounded terrible on that bass)

I prefer Fender Bullets 10-46 on my strat.

I used DR Black Beuties and Red devils on my old Ibanez guitar.

I use Curt Mangan roundwounds in nickel. I used to be a DR-only person.....couldn't find a string that would top 'em....then I tried these. They last & last.

Right now I'm using Dean Markley Blue Steels, but I feel a change to flats might be in order in the near future.

I'm happy with D'Addario EXL nickel wound, round wound, regular light gauge. They work well in different styles.

I mostly use rounds, the heavier, the better; but the fretless gets flats or grounds/halfs.

Im using DR's Coated in Peacock Blue....feel good, but are floppy when I d-tune. Do they not make a heavier gauge in these?

GHS Boomers 45-105, wouldnt think of using anything else.

Marcus Miller Fat Beams (.45's). If I couldn't get MM's I would go with D'Addario Pro Steels.

In my Warwick fretless, I use Warwick Black Label Stainless Medium Light Strings.
In my 6 I use D'Addario pro steels.
And in the rest of my basses I use Dean Markley Blue Steel medium light.

Just put flatwounds on my '74 Jazz. First time I've ever used them. I have Ernie Ball 45-100 nickels on all my other basses, so went with Ernie Ball 45-100 steel flatwounds and am in heaven. The '74 jazz with flatwounds (after a few days of playing to take away that new string brightness) sounds amazing through all amps I've tried, as well as with headphone practice amp. I'm using absolutely no effects, processors, preamps or eq and I'm addicted. All my favourite players use roundwounds (Marcus, Wooten, Bona, AJ, Will Lee), but everytime I pick it up I can't get over it.
