What kind of strings do you use?

I use DR Black Beauties on all my 4 and 5 strings. They are comfortable with a great tone!

They also look sexy and (almost) last forever!

I always TRY to find Yamaha strings as I really love 'em. But they are VERY difficult to find (I do NOT own a Yamaha guitar...never had....). They are unique as the "winding" is thicker than most every other string I have seen.
But I generally use Rotos or whatever is on sale. I've found Roto's for $9.95, so there's every reason to just buy a few sets, etc. I would do the same with GHS or D'Addarios or whatever. I only got picky with Yamaha because it really stood out....but then I haven't tried many of the really NEW concept strings. And (to me) flats are flats; you can keep them strung forever and they sound better and better).

In my short time playing, I love the sound of Rotosound Swing 66 roundwounds, I'm tuned in drop-a on my les paul, so I get the 5 string set and throw away the 105, I get so much clarity, its not even funny, and the strings are nice and tight, but are bendable, which is win.

Its all about about the DR lowriders 105's. I have them on my 96 american jazz and they are very bright with a nice crunch. I play in a pop punk band and recorded an ep with these take a listen at Link Removed

I use "ZOG" strings from Zachary Guitars on all of my Basses.
They are the correct tension and are tight and punchy.

Does anyone else wipe down their round-wound stings (I use a washcloth) every time they play? I've found that it can almost double the life of the strings.

I use lint-free cloths. you can find them at Big Lots real cheap. It's best to wipe before and after playing

It has a weird feel when you first play them, but after a few months your fingers polish the strings, and it feels great. Sometimes, if you are playing on 12+ frets, you usually pluck too hard, and get a weird sound similar to the sound of pulling up in the E and letting it ring.

I use anything D'Addario with my basses, because they come sealed in plastic and you don't know how many months those strings were sitting in a warehouse before they get to your hands.

Using DR Black Beauties on my Koa Peavey Unity Series Dyna. Got them on a whim about 3 months ago and they've really grown on me.

I have a Fender MIM Jazz Bass, and I use the strings that came with it (not had it long) - can somebody help me identify them, they're stock and my bass teacher said something about them being nickel AND stainless steel? (pardon my ignorance please!)

I also use the GHS Boomers Flea on my Fleabass, and (I like to be at the forefront of the music I play - 3 man band so guitarist is mainly rhythm) I love the tone of them, so I may well put a set on my jazz! I'd reccommend them for anybody who wants punch, but be careful as they're the bass equivalent of an overactive drummer, and can ruin a slow, quiet song just as easily!
