What model Rickenbacker Bass

I just picked up a lefty Rick that had previously had its finished stripped off. Plan on restoring it myself.

Does anyone know which model it seems to be.

The serial# on the jack plate indicates its was made in Nov. 1984.

Congrats! Everyone accuses me of owning all the lefty Ric basses, now there's proof that I don't!

Yes, indeed. It's a shame that someone gutted it with different pickups. You can get replacement pickups directly from RIC. This model would have had the toaster in the neck position and the reissue horseshoe in the treble position. Reissue horseshoes are of limited availability over time. You can always make it into a "Wings" era Rick by putting the standard high-gain in the treble position.

I've ordered the missing knobs and screw for the string dampener already.

I'm also all set up to do a custom finish.
Since I never plan to resell it I'm thinking of doing a tobacco sunburst more like the original strats.

the aftermarket pickups work for now. so I'm going to replace those after i get her up and running.

Aside from that the neck is perfectly flat and the action and intonation seem pretty good, but I do think the dual truss rods are rattling around inside somewhat. Hopefully they're not broken.

I'll post finished pics in here when she's done.

As I said in Post# 2, it's a 4001V63.
Tighten the rods ever so slightly and the rattle should stop.

Very cool bass. I suggest making it like this one here. Except of course yours will have 4 strings.

Put a Ric 4003 high gain in the bridge, put a toaster in the neck, get the vintage knobs, and a proper pick guard from pickguardian. Also Round the edges a little but do it nicely and give it 3 coats of tung oil with a little mineral spirits mixed in. The polish it with Johnsons floor wax to protect the bass.
