What Overdrive pedals are you using?

Please overdrive pedals only. I keep asking for people's advice(outside of talkbass) on what overdrive pedal to get and I just get loads of people showing me fuzz pedals.

I not looking for a specific sound just wondering; What Overdrive pedals do you find are the best!?

Cheers:thumbsup:

EDIT: Guitar pedals used with bass welcome!

Darkglass vintage microtubes.
My most favourite pedal, ever!!!
Never leave home without it!
Fairfield Barbershop - this is my always on sound
Wren and Cuff Phat Phuk (with some extra drive dialed in)
Just built a Red Llama clone, but haven't really had a chance to play around with it yet.
And have a Fuzzrocious Demon on the way - very excited about this one.

I've owned a bunch of others in the past, including some that have been quite popular here on TB (VT Bass, Darkglass VMT and VMTD etc), but they just haven't done it for me and I've moved them on. One other that I'm keen to check out is the VFR Triumvirate.

I have three different boards for various gigs. I use overdrive pedals to change up my sound on the fly, though most of my sounds skew vintage:
SolidGold FX Beta
EHX Glove
EHX Hot Tubes
Johnk Dual-OD
Johnk-built Ginger
Johnk-built Royal Albert Hall
Way Huge Pork Loin

I'm a pedal cheapskate and don't have a single pedal on my board that cost over $50. It's a good way to experiment without spending a ton of money! I currently have three Joyo pedals; American Sound, California Sound and Ultimate Drive. All three sound very good and different from each other. The Ultimate Drive is the heaviest so I use it sparingly. The American is my favorite. It can be used as an always on pedal to give a hint of warmth but it also can get fairly dirty. The California is nice too but it has a thicker tone and can sound like heavy fuzz if the gain and voice are cranked.

In order of preference:
  1. Tech 21 VT Bass Deluxe
  2. Way Huge Pork Loin
  3. Way Huge Green Rhino (especially stacked on the Pork Loin for harder overdrive with a bit of a biting edge)
  4. Soundblox OFD (many different options for overdrive)
Have not tried the always mentioned, always loved Darkglass VMT but with how many times I see it mentioned, I'm thinking I need to give it a run.

*EDIT* Ok, just went and looked at the VMT. As I'm cheap, I likely will NOT be trying that one out at an average price of $250.
