It looks late 70's - early 80's from the construction. I would imagine it's a guitar cab since there isn't enough room for porting. I wouldn't try and play bass thru it- those drivers are probably pretty fragile after all that time.

I bet a Peavey forum could tell you what it's rated at.

Very nice!! Pull all those drivers out, and replace them with Eminence Basslite S2010's or DeltaliteII2510's from Avatar, with the extended X-max. Then calculate what porting is needed, and just port it out the side, as ports don't care what direction they go. Will make you a sweet, small cab!! Easy to cart around too.

Pull one of the speakers and see what exactly they are. From the dust caps they look like MISCOS. Or possibly they were reconed by MISCO. If they are you will be able to read the impedance and then see how they are wired.

Yeah thats the one from Asheville craigslist... i got luck and happened to be up at 4am to find it, hes also got a peavey 18 cab im getting from him next week for 100.00.
I jammed my bass thru it with 200 watts at least, it sounded great , i know he has replaced the speakers over the years cause he used this for his wedding music/dj type stuff, he mostly ran a 12 stirng acoustic thru it....
So how do i figure out the ports? I was thiking of going with Carvin 10s but if you guys thik other wise, ill look at any and all ideas....
Peavey.com had NO info at all, i sent pics and the numbers on the back to them and asked for help in identifying it......
All im looking to do is about 300 watts max thru it, just enuff to cut thru the mix on stage, ill be running thru my Line 6 X3 Live s i can use it as a spliter/direct box (2 1/4 outs and 2 xlr outs). Ill have this one, my Peavey 1 12. 150 wt combo (custom made kick back with reflex port nearly doubled the sound outout on stage) and the till run the 18 and into the mains, lots of stereo options......
Thanks for the help and keep this going, i need all the help i can get!!!!

If you really want to make it a bass cab, consider replacing 2 of the drivers with plywood discs to close the holes, and make a 4x10. It will then have enough cabinet volume to make the 10's work well. Most of the old Peavey boxes like that were not very deep, and you will need the volume. Don't try and replace the face of it (the plywood where the speakers mount)- it's stapled, glued, and dadoed. You could throw it from a train and it would survive.

Ok, just got a message from peavey today....this item was shipped from the factory on 11/03/73....it was considered a 74 or 75 model then.....200 watts,4 ohms, infinate baffel, it was designed for guitar, organ, piano.....so it its able to handle organ which can go much lower than a standard bass, it should be fine with me using it for my bass right?
Im gonna find a 100-200watt amp, maybe a matching Peavey from the 70s 80s, and use my line 6 to split the signal between my 6 10 and 1 12 peaveys.....the line 6 x3 livs has the ability to use 2 settings at one time so i split one with the lows taken out to the 10s, and the second with heavier lows to the 12....what do you guys think?

I would think this cab would be fine used in a biamp setup. You can use your Sansamp but you will need 2 power amps, not one. You split your signal with the Sansamp and then send the lows to the amp powering the 18" and you send the highs to the amp powering the 610... You need to get plain power amps or amps that have the ability to bypass the preamp, such as a "power amp in" jack, lots of Peavey bass amps have this...
