I don't have an answer but will add a question - what about octave?
I mostly solo and jam at home, so primarily am interested in pleasing my own ear. Generally the only thing that really excites me is an octaver - to the point that I sometimes wonder if my main player should be an 8 or 12 string. I say no because I play fingerstyle and am not coordinated enough for more than 4.
I guess my question is whether or not those who have a good octaver (POG2 for example) get much opportunity to use it at gigs. Or is the effect so much "in your face" that nobody else in the band wants you to have it on?
I like chorus too but find that octave is somewhat similar and preferable.
I use a multi fx box now. If i went to separates I'd probably have a pog and a tuner. Thats probably it for me.
(And I really dont care what's popular.)![]()
I use my octaver heavily on one song for the choruses since the guitar players are tuned down to G# and I refused to get a 5 string. It thickens the sound enough to make up for me matching the guitar players' octave. That being said, my guitar players are ******** for crowding my lows!
