What pedals are IN now???

I don't have an answer but will add a question - what about octave?

I mostly solo and jam at home, so primarily am interested in pleasing my own ear. Generally the only thing that really excites me is an octaver - to the point that I sometimes wonder if my main player should be an 8 or 12 string. I say no because I play fingerstyle and am not coordinated enough for more than 4.

I guess my question is whether or not those who have a good octaver (POG2 for example) get much opportunity to use it at gigs. Or is the effect so much "in your face" that nobody else in the band wants you to have it on?

I like chorus too but find that octave is somewhat similar and preferable.

I use a multi fx box now. If i went to separates I'd probably have a pog and a tuner. Thats probably it for me.

(And I really dont care what's popular.) :)

I use my octaver heavily on one song for the choruses since the guitar players are tuned down to G# and I refused to get a 5 string. It thickens the sound enough to make up for me matching the guitar players' octave. That being said, my guitar players are ******** for crowding my lows! :crying:

Seriously, where do all these non-effects trolls get off? I don't go into your amp threads or your cable threads and talk about how I like the cheapest jank I can get and anyone else using anything else is doing it wrong. Grow some manners.

Back to the OP: Everyone's going apepoop over Source Audio BEFs ("OMG I CAN HAZ DUBSTEPZ? GIMMEEEEE") and Timelines lately. I see Dr. Scientist Reverberators everywhere (cuz they're really that great). I see more peeps finally using feedback loops, too.

Coolest pedals around? dwarfcraft and smallsound/bigsound

Not trolling at all. I like effects but I really think there is a bit of a movement back to minimalism. I've been through a bunch of effects and have found a fairly simple board that fills just about any need I'll ever run into. Don't get all bent out of shape because someone has a different opinion.

Of course I'd like to play some dub step with a bajillion effects, I just don't know where I'd ever do that in a band setting, but it is fun as hell.

That tears it. I'm going to go back to the big effects board. I just bought a new one, re-added two pedals already, and I'm going to add 3 more for my next gig just to poop all over this minimalist nonsense. Let's see...what would go best for a 50's-60's band? Prunes and Custard? Frequency Analyzer? Nocto Loco?

:D

Actually, while you could go completely without effects, I think overdrive is a bit of a necessity. That's probably the only one I'd consider a necessity but I like having an octaver. Throw a little distortion on it and you can get some cool synthy sounds with the lower octave.

There's a number of "in" pedals here...
