Double Bass What Should I clean my upright fingerboard with??

I must be one of the lucky ones.

I just thoroughly wipe down the strings, board and neck after every practice and performance - never get any rosin build-up.

I keep two polishing cloths: one for cleaning rosin off the strings, bridge and lower bass and the other for cleaning the sweat and oils off the upper strings, fingerboard and neck.

The rosin cloth gets kinda dirty and sticky after a long while, the other stays pretty clean.

Once or twice a year I will use a very small amount of Kolstein's amber colored cleaning fluid that smells of cloves. Works great. Lasts me years.

A good, harmless substance is linseed oil. It's used to make the varnish anyways. Works for the whole bass but you don't need it often.

Phil, red Ian, you all weren't kidding my bass took the boiled linseed oil like butter on a hot potato. Mm.
Some good old fashioned spit on a papertowel seems to work ok for cleaning off the fingerboard. Jesus used spit.
