what should I get?

Well guys,

I was going to get an ampeg b200r in about a month it was conveniently priced at $350 new. (samedaymusic) Which was $400 below the normal price unfortunately they were getting rid of the amp. Now if I want it I have to pay $450. I have enough to maybe spend $250-300 now.

I am only 14 so my dad will pay half for the amp and my birthday (in a month could be quite profitable) :smug:

What I liked about the b200r was that it had great tone, tubes, a direct line out, and a enough umpphh to play something small. Which I will need because some of the places I will be playing do not have a house system. So it is a perfect sized amp for me.

Now I wonder whether I should try to find an ampeg or eden half stack on craigslist or something. What would you giuys recommend of these?

So my questions are do you guys now of any spots where the b200r is still sold cheap I am willing to get refurbished.

Should I still get this amp or get a half stack (maybe I could pull of getting a tube head?)

thanks guys,
matt

USED GEAR! when i was your age i was very lucky to come by an old Acoustic 140 head and a Peavey 2x15 cab and it only cost about $300. That was 8 years ago and they still serve me pretty well today, though my rig has grown over time. Daddy's Junky Music (if there's one near you... they also have a website) has always been a favorite hang out of mine. I used to spend hours in there trying every bass on the wall and every amp stacked up under them. There are always a couple really nice used amps there and the prices aren't half bad.
you might even be able to find a really nice old SVT for $600 or less.
good luck on the search!!

looks lie a fun store Unfortunately I live in Minnesota On craigslist about a month ago I saw $2400 of equipment going used for $600
A $1000 ampeg svt head, a 15" in and a 4 10" making it a full stack. Not that you ever really need a full stack ever.

What should I get eden or ampeg? Should I stick with the b200r?

You should wait until your birthday and see what your budget is then. I took a look at the Twin Cities Craiglslist. There are a few deals to be had. Just hang on until you have the cash. You pick the gear and let your dad help make the deal. Dads are AWESOME at that kind of thing. Good luck!

Ya I think I want to wait unfortunately my dad is not a musician he supports music for me, because he likes it. He will pay half for anything except drums which happens to be my main instrument, but I'm learning bass fast I've only played a month and a half, but I practice over an hour everyday and I take lessons.

I don't need an amp at the moment I have a really old crappy P.A. soundbox that is 400watts and a small 10' pa that is also crappy. I can crank that to play with drums even it's not good for the speaker, but I got the stuff for free.

I believe I'll wait to maybe get the b200r unless I see a good deal on it or I find something better.
