What signature model is actually worth it?

I just learned the Dave Grohl signature guitar is going for upward toward $25k. That seems insane for what is likely a standard 335 style guitar with little diamonds instead of F-holes. 335s are expensive enough, but now this?

Got me thinking about other signature guitars and basses and wondering if any of them are special or unique enough to warrant a premium, or are they just valuable to a fan because the fans like the player. Of course, fans want to buy what their idols play, thats understandable, but are any of these guitar or bass signatures good enough that a non-fan would want the unique specs?

When I first watched the Fender vid for the Troy Sanders signature P bass it checked off all my boxes.
Immediately ordered it and have been very pleased with it for the price.

More than worth it for the recent $200 off price.
This one came as a big surprise to me.
Knew about it for ten years but only tried one last year.
Very few basses in its class sound so good.

depends, are you a fanboi of the artist or does the geetar have the features you would have added to or changed a standard model to?

I wouldn't pay 25k for a Trini Lopez, but I'd like to have one....

I bought an Epiphone Allen Woody for its feature set, playability, and sound, not because I'm a fan (I barely know his music). It's a unique bass that had what I wanted at a price I could afford. I would have bought it with or without the signature.

Well it's not like that's what they sold for new. That's what some random seller on reverb thinks they can get for it. Plus, there's talk of them releasing them again so they'll most likely never see that 25k

I own a Matt Freeman Squier P Bass. Amazing bass for the money, which isn't much considering the cost in the world of basses these days. Discontinued model hard to find.

This could be a whole new marketing concept. Rather than "personally designed by" the artist or "personally signed by" the artist, they could have "personally rubbed against" by the artist.
