What solid state head best emulates tube tone?

I generally don't trust someone else's ears when it's my money. I'd recommend the same for you. I'd say check some stuff out. Enjoy the search. Take some time. Don't be so quick to let go of your hard-earned money, if you don't have to be so quick. I would say don't worry about whether amp X, Y or Z meets someone else's definition of tube enough-like sound. You just need to like the sound, and to be able to afford the gear that produces it.

When I don't feel like lugging around my Trace Elliot V6, I pull out my Trace Elliot V-type tube preamp and Carvin DCM 1500 power amp. Sometimes it sounds even fatter than the V6 minus 2 AX7s, 6 KT88s, and about 25 lbs!

Thunderfunk is it. I have a AD200 and a DB750 The Thunder gets REAL close to em at a fraction of the weight.
