I have severe left hand issues and need a very soft/lightweight solo string that will give me a good bowed tone and a solid pizz. I'm going for Solo strings because my left hand issues are so severe that I'm getting ready for my third surgery to hopefully help slow if not stop my condition.

Double Bass What Solo strings for orch tuning 50/50 arco/pizz

Dominant & Kaplan solos, Jargar Dolces, Sensicore solos (except for G) and the Spiros Sam said are all good options. I have had neck surgery and hand/nerve issues and these have worked best for me over the past five years on various basses.

I think the best for you would be SONORES Basso Solo Strings by Gerold Genssler with silk core and metal surface. If you talk with him I think he could make the best strings for your needs; he's very kind.
Alternatively the new Pirastro Perpetual (or Perpetual Solo are very light on left hand and are a good compromise pizza/arco; then Corelli 370M, 370L or XL; Obligato Solo; Evah Pirazzi Solo; Spiro Solo are also very good for pizz and bow.
In the last cases maybe you could buy the strings used and search what is the best for your needs.

I've mounted Orchestra Perpetual on one very good carved Italian bass and I use it for solo arco playing in standard tunings. In the case I can also use it for other kind of music because the pizzicato is good. It's a good compromise but if I could spend that money I'd buy SONORES Basso solo. It's a kind of three-dimensional sound....
If you are going to contact Gerold Genssler for a kind of Sonores Strings.. i wouldn't forget to ask about the AP strings... which are - as its name says - All Purpose and a really good hybrid string... a the load is even a little bit lower compared to the Basso Strings..

I have Superflexible mediums on a 40 3/4 inch string length Roma Hybrid bass and Kaplan solos tuned to orchestra pitch on a 43 1/2 inch string length King Mortone ply. The Kaplan's actually feel stiffer than the Superflexibles but the string length contributes to that. The Kaplan's sound great on that bass both pizz and arco.
