Yeah @Pier_ we came to that conclusion hours ago about Elixirs. The Ibanez strings on the Ibanez site do not have Silks, the mystery continues...and don't call me Shirley.

My SR406 came strung with D'addarios and was purchased in June of 2015 and Manufactured in March of 2015. There was a hang tag attached to the bass indicating it was strung with D'addarios. It did not come with Elixirs. It did come with the same aforementioned manual.

we still don't know for sure. i've written to ibanez about this twice, but will keep trying to call. i asked a couple dealers, but they had no idea, either.
i just got off the phone with elixer. they do not make short scale strings, and supply only long scale strings to ibanez, so he said that tag was a mistake.
BUT...
if they get enough requests for short scale strings, they might start making them, so folks, if you want elixer to make short scale strings, they're at 800 367-5533. call and let them know...
Old thread I know but I wondered the same thing about my Mikro and Mikro 5. I could be wrong but I don't believe Ibanez is in the string making business. Not to mention the D'Addarios I put on my 5 feel an awful lot like the stock strings. I'm willing to bet the strings are made by D'Addario but branded as Ibanez strings. Similar to the way Fender doesn't actually make any of their special design speakers in some of their amps. They are made by a handful of different companies for Fender.
It's funny, I just got a Talman, and I kinda like the strings on it. When he pointed out Elixers on the booklet, I checked mine and was surprised it was there, too. But... I've used Elixers on acoustics in the past and I hate them. I don't like their feel or their tone, and these are definitely not covered strings. They have the black wraps on the end, though.
i don't think they always use the same strings on the mikros - i've owned three, and they not only sounded different, but on one of the three they felt much smoother than the other two. the one that was smoother also made for a much deeper tone, just lovely. but i believe there are mikro replacement strings for sale hidden on the ibanez site.
Did you get them all brand new direct from Ibanez at the same time? Yes, they do have the Mikro strings on the site.
no, i didn't - one was several years ago, the other two were more recent about 8 months apart.
one from guitar center, one from sam ash, one from a preferred seller on ebay. and the 5 string from AMS.
maybe they're another brand of coated strings. i talked to people at elixers twice, and they don't make short scale strings - never have. a 34" scale string on a mikro with its 28.6" scale wouldn't work. btw, two of mine came with an inspection card that talked about elixers, one came with a hangtag that said elixers but none had coated strings. go figure!
Trying to figure out if they were all new straight from the stores or you bought them in store. Because a guitar that has sat in a store and been played by dozens of people is going to sound different then one straight out of a box more times then not.
one in store, two online and the 5-string online. every one sounded different, and that's after changing to the same strings.
