i sorta like the strings that came on my mikro, and when the time comes i'd like to replace them with the same set. ibanez has not responded to my emails, and so far all i get when i call is their voice mail, so i'm hoping someone here knows.

wow, thanks - somehow i never found that page. now all i have to do is figure out how to order them!
judging by the page above, ibanez may be using their own strings. if the strings are d'addarios, i don't know which ones. i have XLs on my jag, and they don't sound anything like the strings on the mikro, which are warmer and less mid-heavy. the strings on the mikro have black silk wraps, btw.
They do not resemble any D'Addario set I have seen...
The ones that came on my Mikro's (4 and 5-string) were off brand most likely imported (made overseas) with red-silk. I have them somewhere but they didn't look like D'Addarios...
Although if you like D'Addario, their Short Scale strings will fit your Mikro!

red silk? i've owned two mikros, several years apart, but i can't remember what color the silk was on the old one. i CAN tell you that the strings don't fit the mikro as the silk and wrapping are on the tuning pegs. but unlike my first mikro, these strings sound really good, and they feel good, too. i sure don't care for the latest d'addarios i got - i've actually stopped playing the bass due to their tone - although i love their acoustic guitar strings.
I do remember that the B-string was wound around the tuning post on my 5-String Mikro. Now I wish I had them, I thought they had Red silk on them but were still wound around the tuning post...

weird - i bought this one only a few months ago and it has black silks. it was a new b stock model with one of the newer colors.
if they're using random strings, it's gonna be a challenge to find these strings or ones like them. all i know is they're warm and have black silk that wraps onto the tuning pegs.

Really difficult to say as it was strung up overseas most likely. IF it was new in box from the reseller... So it is really hard to say with mass produced instruments like this unless they have the hang tag on it saying what they are...
So the full winding is going around the tuning post like on the one pictured above? So they are too long too... I would put a post in the "wanted" section, I'm sure someone would be happy to take off and sell their stock strings!

My SR models came with D'addarios, My Talmans came with Elixirs. I have a 300SR and 506SR both with the D'addario hang tags. The Talmans state Elixirs on the owner's manual. Elixir have black silk and the D'addarios are bare. Hope that helps.
The D'addarios are XLs that came stock. From what I've heard of Elixirs I was assuming a string replacement was in order, but they sound a feel great.
I'm assuming they are Elixirs like my new Talmans have, this is according to the info on the back cover of the manual.
these strings have black silk on both ends with brass ball ends, and they're warmer and less nasal than d'addario XLs. elixer doesn't make short scale strings (as far as i can tell), but the strings feel smoother than d'addario nickel XLs.
I'm not saying you're calling me a liar but this came straight out of the box on Tuesday, my bass was manufactured on 10/28/15. They have black silks. This is the manual and it has my bass' serial number on it...
So until proven otherwise, I say they are Elixir strings...

It is a general manual, the same manual came with my SR models, but those basses came with hang tags stating they were strung with D'addario XLs even though the manual said Elixir strings.

They are NOT D'Addario or Elixir.
They are a no name import brand.
You can usually see the Elixir coating, where it starts and where it ends... Like in the attached image. The coating isn't on the uneven winding, it starts about 1" after the ball end. And you can also see it between the windings of the string as it is like a shrink-wrap tube around the string...

If this is the case then Ibanez is poorly representing Elixir brand strings.
