What Strings Do You Use?

I used to use DR but I have a cost deal with Curt Mangan so I have been using them for several years. Over the summer, Bruce Hall (REO Speedwagon) suggested I try Dean Markley Stainless Steel. I bought a set and really liked the way the sound. Coincidentally, Curt Mangan worked for Dean Markley before starting his own company.

Do these growl more than regular strings? I was thinking of trying some sort of contact core string.

Bear in mind, all of my basses are Warwicks, so there is already "the" inherent growl playing a factor. That said, I haven't noticed any extra from putting these strings on than previous. I find them clearer than regular strings, but not more growly.

Check out Naked Strings, they are nickel strings that sound and feel similar to DR Low Riders, and you get to custom order your string gauges. You save a ton of money buying these strings online. I love TI Jazz flats on my P bass, Labella makes great flatwounds, and Chromes are also sweet flats. DR High Beams are a great string as well.

Just curious to see what everyone else plays. I have used the Ernie Ball Regular Slinky 50 - 105's on my 4 strings and the 45 - 130's on my 5 strings as long as I can remember.

I like to use DR Marcus Miller signature strings (steel/round wound) on my fretted basses, and Thomastick-Infeld Jazz Bass 344 flatwounds for my fretless Fender Jazz.

On my P basses, it's either 50-105 roto flats or GHS tapes.
I've got one of each now, gotta have that woody thump the tapes dispense.

Rotosound SM66, same gauge set as Skitch it!(above).

Used to use "standard" gauge forever(decades) until I found the bass(es) I use now(Greco LP clones, maple necks, similar to Fender Jazz or Gibson Thunderbird neck except not as deep/thick). The necks do not like Roto's standard set at all. Went to the lighter set, adjusted things, and all is well.
