What the heck....Ebay strangeness

That's a part of an ebay SCAMBOT ring... as soon as they crack a "good" seller's account who has been inactive for a little while, they load up a script that quickly fills it up with all those auction listings of "known valuable items" copied off ebay earlier. The joys of AUTOMATION, eh??

I saw the identical pile of 'TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE' PRICED "luxury item listings" ( with the identical "don't bid, send me $$ off ebay" disclaimer) posted a couple of months ago when I was hunting ebay for studio monitors .

The crooks hope that people's greed gets the better of their common sense. Apparently there is ONE BORN EVERY MINUTE, or they wouldn't keep running this scam...

Whelp, a '54 would be a slab body, no? AFAIK, contoured bodies began in '57.
This link doesn't show an instrument to buy, but a book about Fender Precisions from 1951-1954.
It's 26,23 for the hardcover version and the name of the seller is moviemars-books.

What is not to understand about an ad with the title:
Fender Precision Basses : 1951-1954 by Detlef Schmidt (2010, Hardcover)

???

That's the "next nearest item" search result that comes up now that the original listing has been removed. It isn't what you would've gotten had you clicked an hour ago.

"fills it up with all those auction listings of "known valuable items" copied off ebay earlier"

They've probably now started copying them off other auction sites now so that you can't as easily find the origin of the legit, item descriptions/PICs by simply looking for them in previously-concluded eBay auctions.

They did. This is what happens when someone's ebay id gets stolen by hackers. They run the id into the ground, and the real owner gets screwed. It has happened to members on here actually, just was discussed last week (previous instances). Ebay will eventually clean things up.

It happened to me. I was minding my own business a couple of years ago and I started getting all these angry emails from people telling me that I had ruined their Christmas with an ebay scam. My account had been hacked by somebody selling bootleg DVDs or whatever. ebay offered to make everything right, but they dropped the ball and left me hanging and I eventually abandoned my account from 1998 with like, 1000 positive feedbacks. That place flat-out sucks.

Here's what I saw about the '54 Pbass
