And even though he outraged people with his "George Bush doesn't care about black people" comment, the amazingly slow recovery efforts in New Orleans, the fact that people there are still having problems rebuilding, and his mother saying that people in NO were better off living in the Astrodome than in their homes proves that he was right IMHO.

Political comments of Kanye's aside, his mother's assertion highly depends on where those homes were located. The Astrodome was a poorly planned trainwreck, but many of those people came from neighborhoods that flooded with 6+ feet of water. I find it difficult to believe that living in your attic for a week and cutting holes in the roof to see daylight would have somehow been better. Kanye should stick to what he does best: talking about Kanye.

One of the things Kayne also forgot to mention was that it took FEMA the same 3-4 days to mobilize and help Lakeview, a predominantly white community in New Orleans with a population of about 15000 that took on about 7-8 feet of water. There were multiple levee breaches and multiple demographics affected. The response time, what ever you think of it, was the same for all of them.

Bungled effort? Surely. Bungled because of race? I find that hard to believe. Everyone got screwed.
