What the.....?!?!?

I've been in the studio many times..........this guy raises some valid points..but then lost all creditability with me when he stating all bass players suck. What a moron!

I think he made a lot of valid,yet glaringly obvious points. the bass player rant was a little uncalled for,but I couldn't help but see nuggets of truth in there. the majority of people I know who say they play bass in bands don't know **** about the material,they have ****** gear(or really poorly taken care of nice gear) and 5 year old roundwounds. I am 18 years old,and have never played in a real studio,but me and my guitarist recorded 8 songs in about two and a half hours(1-2 takes per song,peformed live,and the 2.5 hours included listening to the takes). if you have an exact battle plan before you start,then you don't really need advice like that.
There is nothing better than finding out the rhythm guitarist is playing the wrong notes when you are tracking him.
Lighten up guys ... he was making several valid points in a tongue in cheek way.
- know your material
- all parts should be written and learned before hitting the studio including vocal harmonies
- know your instrument
- bass players are useless !@#$s
- leave observers home, the studio is business time.
- make sure your instrument and gear are reliable
- fresh strings
- practice to a metronome before hitting the studio
- practice with the gear you intend to use in the studio (amp, processors, whatever)
- charts save money ... use 'em
- know your material

it's funny. don't get butthurt just because you're a bass player. we rag on drummers and guitarists all the time around here. time we got a little of what we've been dishing. I actually saw this on FB months ago, got brought into the discussion by people saying how I'm not like that. was pretty awesome to see.

The poodle bites, the poodle chews it.
He doesn't quite pull off satire - wrong character for it. Still amusing, though. And anyone heading for the studio should still watch it, or something like it. Amazing how many well-meaning people trip up on at least one of those points. I know I definitely qualified for the bass player category during my first visit to a studio.
