Double Bass What to use with Pub 280

Chris, I'll sometimes have a lot of undertones out of my
Mirecourt bass with a Wilson pickup which can really tax
the speaker. A cut at 40hz when playing at high volume
helps tighten things up and minimizes the 'poof' sound.

Exactly what I love about TB! I was planning on checking out one of those little Presonus EQ's anyway. :)

Man, you're not kidding! I tried using a couple of preamps that include hi-pass filters, and it about DOUBLED the volume I can get out of the PUB. My first gig with drums together with the PUB up on a stand is tonight. I have a good feeling about this one...

What I love about this box is that it is so freaking versatile. I'm playing tonight through Saturday night at a club that has a crappy PA. Also, the colsest speaker is mounted to the ceiling directly overhead, making it impossible to hear anything. Because the stage is small and I'm too lazy to carry 2 Pubs and a Mackie mixer if I don't have to, I just bring a mic, stand, and one Pub on a stand. I run the Pub as a powered monitor off the cheap 150w PA. The Pub supplies most of the volume, with a little in the two house speakers to fill out the sound.

Forgot to post the gig results: On a piano trio date in a large room with a loud drummer, the PUB up on the stand sounded GREAT. There's something very natural about the way the sound disperses from up on the stand that doesn't happen when the speaker is placed lower. I now have a duo/trio rig than I'm truly happy with. Thanks again to Scott for parting with this gem!
