it's the pickups ain't it they are a bit muddy sometimes, i've got them on my btb450 but i still love this bass :hyper:, i'll find a good tone.

OK, disagree if you wish. Find a comparable Yamaha and see if you can play like that. Bass choice is very personal, if you think you can't get the tone you want from your Ibanez, then you probably won't. Go try out some other basses. Once you find one you feel comfortable with stick with it. Disregard what it says on the headstock. Don't worry about the gear so much, worry about learning the instrument. Going and buying a Yamaha like the one in the video won't suddenly make you play like that.

Be patient, it's a life-long journey learning and playing an instrument.

Well, I'm glad you like yours... I don't like mine, because I can't play anything fast or else it'll sound very muddy and connected even if I articulate every note.

Oh don't worry, if someone gives me a Fodera, I'll show them there are people who can sound exactly like Victor Wooten. I have the the right action on the bass, right strings, just the pickups, preamp, and amplifier blends basses and trebles. I can't change that with my technique... can you?

I don't know. I have no desire to sound like Victor Wooten. If you gave me Fodera, I'd like to think I'd sound like me, the sound that I've been developing for 20 odd years now.

Everyone's "dream tone" is difference, and as much as people want to laugh at me, I still want to have the same tone Victor Wooten has. Not because "the tone" has played so many good tunes, but because so many good tunes would sound so much better with "the tone."

You don't seriously believe that if you get a Fodera Monarch that's all it will take to sound like Victor Wooten, do you?
