That's for sure. In one of my college classes, the teacher is a bit of an activist... Gotta be careful with that.
I would make sure my son/daughter never had to sit through that again, though I would offer some advice on a better way to handle the situation. Teacher has quite an ego on him I guess.
Really? My professors ask for brutal honesty. I got exta credit once for telling a professor that I thought he was wasting our time. He asked me what I thought, I told him, and was rewarded extra credit for "having balls"Trevorus said:

Just instill in them that if he does not get a great education and develop well as a civilized human he will be stuck working for people like this his whole life.
What he did shows a lot of "spirit", something my eldest has .
It can be used to do great things and build a superior life and lifestyle. Teach him to keep it up in a proper and positive way.
IMO he deserves no punishment from you!
He is obviously a free thinker and very intelligent.

I've had a student correct me on more than one occasion.
I "tabled" the issue until I could resolve it conclusively (find out who was right), then announced that I was wrong to the entire class.
I think in the long run, it increased their respect for me. It makes you look much more stupid when the student can then go around and show the rest of the class how you were wrong and refused to admit it.

About the OP, I really dont know what to say about that, other than why is this person teaching kids? Anyone that doesnt know that a km and mile arent the same thing does not need to be a teacher.

Sorry, I have to highlight this... He never said that, he said a kilometer is longer than a mile...

I do it ALL the time. On another forum, we were talking about clutch problems on someone's truck, when he had an automatic (which was stated first off...).
