What was your dream bass when you first started playing?

I'm curious what everyone's dream bass was when they first started playing bass. Make sure to tell what year it was and what kind of music you were playing/wanting to play.

I started out with dreams of being a grunge rocker in 1992. I was 13. Though my first bass was a crappy Series 10 P-Bass copy, I drooled over every 1960's Jazz Bass I saw. I've had 70's Jazz's since then, but nothing in the 60's...yet.

Wow, first dream bass was the day I saw a Spector 4 string, with the white pearl finish with gold hardware. And those classic Spector inlays. It was basically the bass Sting played in the Police during that time. I guess I'd date it in the mid
eighties, I guess.

Took me til now to own my Spectors.

My own bass, I was using the school's Hondo P copy when I first started out.

I think it was a Gibson Thunderbird or a Rickenbacker 4003.

Nowadays, it's a Music Man Stingray or a Wal Mk II that I'd kill for.

it started off at the ric (roger glover had one therefore i wanted one--i liked the way the ric sounded at the beginning of SOTW), and slowly evolved to a 62 J (i think it was more for the LPB finish on fender.com and block inlays) and finally into a 75 jazz (same reason, only i liked natural finish better)

I didn't know anything about instruments when I started playing, but when I gathered some knowledge I dreamed with an Alembic Series II, until I got my first Bongo and realized that it is possible to have a high quality instrument without having to win a lotto.
