Home stereo and a Y adapter (and a Raven bass). Eventually I was able to borrow an Ampeg B-115 (and a Pbass). Didn't own a real rig until I'd been playing for 2 or 3 years.

Marlboro amp, back in 1979. Cheapest piece of **** thing I ever heard on the planet. Sounded like a broken trumpet..
A used Blonde Fender Tremolux with matching 2-10 cabinet in 1965. I bought it from my neighbor who played accordion through it. In 1967 I bought a new Silvertone 150 watt rig with 6-10s.
How old is old around here? Im 32. First amp was a little peavey 112 combo probably made around 1990. Decent sounding little amp actually. Got me through high school jazz band and a few talent shows and house parties. But I actually have never played a club with a combo. My rig by the time I was playing gigs was a peavey max pre, cs800 and 2 peavey 15s that were quickly replaced by a peavey 810. Then I got into swr for a while. Then ampegs and sans amps and stuff.
How "old" is old? I had a 1x15 Hyland combo, which sucked. Apparently it was so terrible no one bought them because I can't find anything about them anywhere online.
My first bass amp was a Sunn 200s with a matching Sunn 2-15 JBL D140 cab,Got it from Bob Heil in Marissa IL .This was before he designed the sound system for the Who and the Grateful Dead.
Used Sears Silvertone 1483. 115 open back cab with space to stow the head. Horrible, horrible bass tone, but ultimately a good tube guitar amp.
In '73, moved up to a Peavey Standard head with 215 cab - loud and lousy sound, but at least it moved some air...

Crappy Peavy Bassic 40. I soon realized that was't worth snot and got a bigger Peavy (hey- this was the eighties) TKO 100 with a 15" Black Widow. Not too bad, except for the lugging it around part.

I started w an old Westbury 100 watt combo the moved up to what I consider the best set up 1985 SUNN solid State Collisium w 2 15" OE speackers in my SUNN cabinet . I'm currently using a SUNN Stage 115 Combo and love it. So basic it was built for me!

I don't know. The amp had no brand name on it. All I remember is the head was rated 30 watts and it sat on a single 15" cab. A year after I got it I wound up running it together with a Sunn just trying to eek past my [then] guitarist's Fender stack. The coolest thing I remember about that little amp was the smell as it farted out and charbroiled itself mid-song. Ironically, I believe we were actually in the middle of Smoke On The Water at the time.
My first amp used for bass was a Silvertone 2 12 , the one that transported with the amp head in the speaker cab. No problems with it but it was underpowered and couldn't keep up with the 1 12 guitar amps of the day. (The day being around 1966) I quickly replaced it with a Fender 50 watt bassman with 2 12's. Better , but still not enough for even a medium sized room. Currently playing through an svt classic rig with an 8 10. It will keep up with a 2500 watt P A without going through the board if i need it to.
