What was your first ever bass amp?

hmmm, my very very first amp was my brother's solid state marshall mosfet guitar amp going into a giant PA speaker, with the giant horn in it.
the thing was huge. but loud enough to jam with.
my first real bass amp was some sort of used peavey head into the same PA cab.
I had fun with that stuff, and it was plenty loud for punk rock and led zeppelin tunes.

peavey basic 50 112 combo
Me too!

1960's ORBIT Have never seen another one. It had a 12" Eminence white dustcap and I drew a smiley face on it. Sounded like crap when pushed past 9 or 10 o'clock... But man it was boss to have an amp after playing with the headstock pressed against the wall for volume.

Haynes Bass King II - 75 lb. of unadulterated germanium solid state suck (and no casters - those were added in the example pic). It had gold trim, as you can see the last of it peeling off on the right.

At least it got me enough gigs to get my next amp. That's about all I can say about it that's positive.

A friend had an old unworking Ampeg V4B sitting around his house. He was moving and gave it to me. I took it to a tech and had it restored. I wasn't playing bass and didn't have a cab so when someone offered to buy it for a good price I sold it. Then I got a great deal on a 1 x 15" cab, got my P-Bass and got a gig playing bass. I really wish I had kept that amp. I scrambled and put together a rig with an Ashly Bass preamp and a Carver power amp that I had lying around and an SWR 2 x 10" that a friend lent to me.

I also had a Traynor Bassmaster and a 6 X 10 cab, but I wanted the head for guitar and sold the cab to a friend who needed a bass cab. I had a crazy guitar rig with two Bassmaster heads, a Kitty Hawk Quattro preamp and an ART effects box pushing two 2 x 12" cabs in stereo.
