What was your first ever bass amp?

Ah yes. The not legendary Ross RB 15. A 10" speaker straddling 15 watts of pure... watts. I can't remember what the difference between the 'volume' and 'master' knobs was lol. Three rock guitarist roommates and me figuring out bass. The endless Metallica/Hendrix/Nirvana bedroom jams... Tearing up over here...

So what was yours?

In 1972-3 I bought a used Fender Bassman head and Bassman 215 cab with JBL drivers. Fine amp. Gigged with it until 77, or so.

Hey, I always enjoy this topic. Here's mine, '69 B25B with 2-15 cab. including caster dolly. This was my first "real" bass amp, I bought it at 16. I believe it was $200 (in 1976) but I borrowed some of the cash from my folks. Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Hendrix, CSNY to name a few of the bands that we covered.

Before the Ampeg though....there was this other rig. One of my dad's retired 25 watt tube Hi-Fi amp chassis', with exposed tubes and transformers, wish I had a picture of it. Through a huge, home built cab with a cast frame (heavy) 18" driver of unknown origin. The particle board cab/driver weighed 140 lbs. and of course I never installed handles on it. It was about the size of an 810 fridge and we called it "the coffin".
That first rig scored an A for effort, but probably couldn't touch your Ross for tone.

Anyway I still have the B25B and with the recent maintenance it's had, it sounds better than ever!

A 1970's something Gibson Thor amp paired with a Telestar bass. Both of these are not the original ones I owned, found these on the net. Paid $125 for the amp & $75 for the bass in 1978 or 79

The first rig owned by me to be used for bass guitar was a Marshall jcm into a peavey 410. suck. Lots of loud suck. My first honest to goodness bass amp was/is my 70's b15n.

Those two fenders next to the Ampeg were not my first basses BTW. I have a short scale "Tonemaster" in the basement, which was.

Kicking off your bassing with a 215 = nice.

Of course, no 215 can match the focused bottom end of a 15w 110...

Peavey TKO 65

I hated that thing. I bought a 76 SVT about a year later, and shredded the speaker of the TKO with the headstock of my Rick 4003 in a fit of drunken rage.

1969 Realistic 115 Combo by Radio Shack. It was ..... Well it was a start lol

I also plugged my Gerrard turntable directly into it for the loudest HiFi on the block!

First bass amp was a Park B25 Mk.II

I still own both and still use them on occasion.

I had a Vox T-25. Sounded nice for practice, but that's about it. As a kid, when I dreamed of being Rick Wakeman or Keith Emerson, I played through a Peavey Mark III with an International 115. In retrospect, that wouldn't have been a bad rig at all...
