What was your first ever bass amp?

I used some other before buying my own; that was a Traynor YBA-3 with two TL style cabinets with EV 15" SRO drivers which soon got replaced with EVM15Ls.

This was the closest I could find. Mine was a re-purposed 50 watt class A, double rectifier and four 6L6GCs. Speaker was a 12" EV whizzer cone HiFi speaker in a 3/4 bass reflex.

SWR Workingman's 12. Blech. Was never loud enough for my gigs, weighed too much, buzzed. I've owned a few other amps but lately, for smaller gigs I'm using an Aguilar SL112 which is very light and sounds great with either my Genz-Benz Streamliner 900 or Markbass Little Mark Tube 800. For bigger gigs I substitute a Markbass 410 cab.

I had a Trace Elliot rig of some description. Might have been a GP7(?) 410 on a 115. It was carpet covered (black, but with green fleck) and heavy as hell. It was alright though because the first time it actually left my bedroom I was selling it to buy my first car. Took me 10 years to get another rig. My CN212 green is a bit reminiscent of TE now i think about it, I wonder how one of the old TE heads would sound with it. You can pick them up for not much these days...

Fender Rumble 100. The only practice amp I've owned and own, and boy, does it serve its purpose perfectly.

In '66 I had a Silvertone 6-10 120 watt. We played bass and vocals through it. Then I bought a Vox Essex Bass amp. Reportedly 50 watts. Found out more recently 40. Never loud enough. I could have bought two used Fender 50 watt Bassman amps for what the Vox cost and would have sounded three times as good!

Ah yes. The not legendary Ross RB 15. A 10" speaker straddling 15 watts of pure... watts. I can't remember what the difference between the 'volume' and 'master' knobs was lol. Three rock guitarist roommates and me figuring out bass. The endless Metallica/Hendrix/Nirvana bedroom jams... Tearing up over here...

So what was yours?

The Peavey TKO 65. I got it on my 15th birthday when we where living in SIMI VALLEY CALIFORNIA. Also got a gloss black HONDO SERIES 830 FENDER P-BASS style Bass guitar. Man, those where the day's my brother played lead guitar and our step brother played the drums, instant 3-man Band. I also loved and still do love Motocross Dirt Bike Racing, back in 83' right down the street from us in SIMI VALLEY lived Johnny O'Mara Honda CR 125 2-STOKE Dirt Bike Champion and in 84' 250cc champ. He was my favorite dirt bike rider back then and Jeff Ward KX Rider. We would get all our friends and girlfriends and jam our 3-man band in that house, playing stuff like ZZ TOP, SCORPIONS, VAN HALEN, METALLICA, IRON MAIDEN, RUSH, BAD COMPANY, YOU NAME IT! MAN THOSE WHERE THE DAYS. AND EVEN NOW 46 years old still wheeling my KX Dirt Bike jammin Bass guitar, hangin with good friends and family. Bass guitar is now my #1 favorite, LOVE MY MUSIC!!!!

A single ETONE 15" PA Speaker, a JANDS J600 power amp and a ross 31 band graphic EQ.

Also had a soundlabs savage early on (think huge guitar head with 5 really huge knobs across the front) through a single 12". Didn't last long and based on what I have read since shouldn't have lasted for as long as it did as it was a very flawed design.
