What was your first ever bass amp?

Peavey TKO (really my 2nd "bass amp")

Like this one (not mine).

Solid, heavy, loud enough.
I really didn't know anything about amps.

When I started, I used a crappy guitar amp (Westbury). I also had a stereo console with a 1/4" in so I could play along to records.

I eventually got a Gorilla GB30 and a BassRockman for playing in the barracks.

They had a Kustom with the poofy vinyl at the rec center that I used.

The Peavey is what I got before I went to college. It served as my dinner table and night stand as well as my amp.

Thing was a tank.

A Crate BX 160. Its was huge! I just wanted a practice amp but my mom was talked into something bigger. I felt like I had just cost my parents a fortune!

Mine was the same amp, brand new off the showroom floor in like Christmas '82 I think, also a Christmas present from my Dad/parents along with my Ibanez Roadstar.

The first bass amp I ever had was a Peavey Basic 40. It was a Christmas present from my parents and my dad helped me put casters on it since it was such a heavy 40 watt beast. That was around 89-90 I guess.

Prior to that I was playing through a 10 watt Gorilla guitar amp that I bought at a pawn shop for $25.

Mine was a Fender Rumble 100. Actually a pretty good amp. I would have kept it but I needed more power. The pic is just one off the net for reference.

My first amp was a Peavey TKO combo back in the early 80's. I think it was a TKO 65.

1970's SVT and an 8x10. But I was young and inexperienced.

My first "bass amp" was a home stereo that I patched the bass in thru the auxiliary jack.
It worked for a little while until the bass fried it. Lol

After that, it was on to a number of Crate and Peavey bass amps throughout the years....

Mines a little embarrassing. It was a TOSH 200 watt PA head coupled with a 15" Black Widow installed in a cab the drummer I played with at the time found in a music store dumpster.

I played a ton of gigs with this set up back in the 90's. Believe it or not got some complements on my tone too. LOL.

I can't believe I found a picture of one of these on the interwebs. This was a Sears catalog special that came with my Cort Steinberger headless bass in ~1985. In looking back on it, I pulled it out a couple times on a lark and played it (at practice) with my band in college, and it had the most wonderful distortion (read, floppy speaker) when turned all the way up. The most beautiful thing about this amp was, late at night, when I'd be practicing in my bedroom, it would pick up a radio station out of Colorado (I'm in Minnesota) through the electrical plug.

It was a 10 watt 8" speaker made by Hiat it had one large knob that turned it on and off one input. Later univox 40 watt, then a 100 watt Bogen head with a Kustom cab, then I got nuts and went to 2 300 watt SVT with 4 4x10 cabs nice stack but went to 2 8x10

A used Peavey Basic 40. Very cool to see that many other players started on this very same amp! Sold mine many moons ago, but still own two Peavey Bandit 65 guitar amps that just reached their 30th birthdays.

Before I saved up the cash to buy the Basic 40, I was playing (at low volume) through my stereo system.

A Peavey TNT something or other (15" speaker, can't remember the model number). I remember it was big and heavy and a major pain to carry it up and down the spiral staircase at our first rehearsal place.

Dinosaur 15 watt 8 inch speaker, I have yet to hear of anyone else ever owning one, though that's probably a good thing. Still use it in the bedroom.

Techincally a Squire 15 pratice amp but first true bass head would be a Hartke HA4000

First amp was a Heathkit 2x12 guitar amp rescued from the abandoned back corner of my uncle's basement. 25 watts of pure fart box!
Second amp was a Sears 15" (BGA28 I believe ) also rescued from the basement. It worked only a few minutes and then went into subatomic nuclear meltdown.
