What was your very first bass guitar?

My first real bass was a 1969 Fender Precision

Kramer Flying V [borrowed pic].
I quickly learned 3 important lessons that day:
1-Don't buy a bass on credit.
2-Don't buy a bass you can't play sitting down.
3-Don't buy a bass whose neck takes a nosedive when you let go.

I wanted a VOX Phantom Delta bass - it would have evoked the same realization! (but it is cool!)

My first bass was a 1967 Sunburst Tele-Star TB-2 teardrop. This is it in the photo below. In a weak moment 20+ years ago I sold it and instantly regretted it so after 10 years of searching I found another one which I still own today. From this I moved to my Hofner 500/1.

First bass - an early/mid '70s Univox "HiFlyer" (short scale).
First bass to gig with (2nd bass) - a '73 Rickenbacker 4001 (still have it). And was driving a pair of Cerwin-Vega 18s with an Ampeg SVT at some High School in NJ c.1978
