What will you spend on a gig bag ?

I may never own the bass, but my Fodera gig bag has been phenomenal. I have had it for at least 15 years now and it is some of the best money I have ever spent on equipment. Its a great piece. It travels so well.

Mono and I-gig, the Mono if I going to be walking long distances[like through airports] because it's lighter.

If I was spending thousands on an instrument, buying a soft case for it is the last thing I'd do.

Way to quote selectively. Why don't we try that again?

As for hardcases? They definitely have their place. If I was going on the road for a string of dates via van/bus? Then I would absolutely be using hardshell cases. But for something closer to home like local gigs / rehearsals / sessions? I like being able to walk into a club with my gigbag on my back...There's no case to potentially bang into a patrons legs as you're trying to navigate your way in.

...And I think if you're prepared to spend potentially thousands of dollars on an instrument, then you should probably pony up for a really good gig bag.

I dunno, 20$ for a cheap chinese one on ebay. I just want something to carry the bass. Protecting it is not an issue. And if it REALLY is in a specific occasion, then i'll just use the case i got. The trouble with case of course is if you have to do a fair amount of walking, it really sucks. Used to hve to walk like 40 mins to practice with my case. I felt every 25 pounds of it after a bit

I've flown, bussed, and vanned basses all of the country in a Mono double bag. Zero issues with protection-including with the occasional gate-check. So far so good! I think that ran me about $300 4-5 years ago.
